Backbone Farm - Blog #3

Hello hello! The Tandooris offer another chapter of their adventures on and off Backbone Farm. The opening picture is of a flatbed carrying a giant propeller through Oakland. This is one of the three propellers that are stuck on to electricity generating windmills, which are shooting up all over the ridges of the surrounding mountains.

While Melvin chews on his deer leg (as pictured above) we’ll update on the new news. The Tandooris have adopted a new animal by the name of Fiddle, the other interning couple have now left the farm and we took an adventure to Pittsburg, to see what all the fuss was about.

Believe it or not, this is where people pick up their CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares in Frostburg, MD. It is behind a lovely bookstore though that serves as the town meeting spot and provides us with much need coffee while we sell produce to strangers outside their store.

Oh! How could we forget! Before Eric and Alley left for Louisianna, we went to an Amish auction that was set up to raise money for their schools. Apparently there was a famous pie that sold for upwards of $300 every year, but we were starving and didn’t stick around long enough to find out… yes, they did have food there, but… Amish taco salad!?…

Here is a picture of our beloved Fiddle who will surely be sad when we bring him home from the vet’s this evening as he is being neutered.

Now, for our Pittsburg section:

The Tandooris loved the city! In fact, we’re thinking of moving there someday. It seems to offer a similar post-industrial vibe that one could easily find in Baltimore, however, the city seems much more porgressive with especially lovely bike paths all over town and signs that warn drivers of the presence of bicyclists. But moving there will have to be put on hold for the time being it seems.

You see, the next big adventure for us will be moving to Texas.

No, you heard right. The Tandooris with their ratty clothes and matching hospital slippers will be moving to the land where people are as tall as the brontasauraus that Nicole found wandering around Pittsburg.

Here’s Nicole working hard at the farmers market in Frostburg.

Well, we’ve got work to do holding Louie like a baby. Till next time!
